What We Miss

I think everyone has concluded from my blogs that life is pretty different here. We are trying to adjust although some having an easier time than others. I have had the hardest time adjusting but little by little I'm learning to just deal with it. So what do we miss? Well, of course, we miss our family and friends and our church. Email and letters are not the same as seeing someone or talking to someone every day. We miss sales....yes, sales. Shopping at the Navy Exchange is not as cheap as people think. For the most part, they only sell top of the line items and lots of designer wear. Although, it comes at a discounted price...it is definitely not a good sale, or a Ross, or a Marshalls. I just had to order Devante's school clothes and shoes online. I have done some online shopping for specific items I was looking for but to buy a whole school wardrobe was a bit complicated. Devin needed just plain T-shirts to hang out in and couldn't find them out here so we had to order them online. I personally miss Starbucks. Yes, I'm in the country where a good cup of coffee is everything but I liked Starbucks better. The coffee here is just too strong for me. I miss my Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha or Chai Latte.

I think we all miss the independence of just getting in our car and driving somewhere. Here we have to plan it out because we need to make sure the place is open or that there isn't some major construction being done on the roads. We also don't want to end up lost in the wrong part of the city.

Devante misses Olive Garden and Red Lobster although all he ever ate there were chicken fingers. We don't eat out here. Everyone here eats dinner late so most restaurants don't even open until 7:30pm-8pm. We eat dinner at 5pm. Also, dinner here is an all night event so you don't get your food right away. It's a slow moving process. Dante can't be in a restaurant more than an hour before he's ready to play.

We definitely miss the San Diego weather. This heat out here is killing us. It doesn't matter how many showers you take in a day you still feel sticky.

I'm sure the longer we are here the more we will miss.
