An Eventful Weekend
Devante finished his swimming lessons for the summer. On Friday, he received his certificate and he passed to level 3. Not bad for a boy that didn't even like putting his head in the water. He is now jumping off the diving board into 8 ft. of water and is loving it. Dante is still in level one. He only took one session because it was very complicated to get him in the water. He didn't want water in his eyes and although I bought him goggles it still was not fun for him(maybe next year will be better when he's a little older). He loves the water but just didn't want to put his head in the water. That really doesn't work in swimming lessons.
On Saturday I attended a women's conference at a church we've been going to the past few weeks. Our speaker was a woman of God who travels around the world sharing the love of God to women. She had been in Africa, stopped in Italy, and today she is heading back to her home in Texas. I was very moved by her and how God has worked in her life to make her who she is today. She definitely has the gift to bring God's word. When she prayed for me, she knew exactly who I was even though we had just met. She told me who I was and how I felt without me saying a word. It was like she had known me all of my life. I'm not going to go into everything she told me but what she said moved me. Some of the things I have heard before and have even said to myself but I haven't really been listening. You hear it but you don't listen. One thing that I will share is that she told me that God brought me here for a purpose. It is not a coincidence that I am Italy. I knew that but I didn't want to accept it. Many of you know that I haven't been too fond of Italy and that although I thought I was trying to accept it, I really wasn't. I knew I was here for a reason but I was questioning it. I thought God really got this one all wrong. So, I am going to embrace these next three years and let God guide me but I'm not just going to hear him, I'm going to LISTEN.
Saturday night we went bowling. Devante won both games. He, of course, gets help from the bumpers that protect him from gutter balls. I, unfortunately, had gutter balls my first four bowls. We had a lot of fun.
On Sunday we went to church. The speaker from the women's conference, Dr. Dolores Dotson, was there to bring the message. It was as moving for Devin as it was for me on Saturday. We learned a lot this weekend.
