Finally Summer Vacation....

Well, school is done for Devante. He is looking forward to an enjoyable summer. Unfortunately, he wanted to spend his summer in San Diego but that won't be happening. Last time, we went to San Diego, Dante and I were stranded in Virginia and had to pay an expensive one-way ticket to get back to Italy. So can't risk taking a military flight during the summer months. I'm sure everyone tries to go home so the chances of us being able to get back are slim. Instead of San Diego, he'll have to settle for more swimming lessons and trips to the park. Devin is busy during the summer so family trips probably won't happen. Today was the last baseball game of the season. It's amazing how fast kids learn to play a game they have never played. Devante received the game ball today for his hit. That was exciting for him. He waits for the perfect pitch so he is sometimes hesitant to hit the ball. I missed seeing the hit. I took Dante to the playground for a little w...

Over 1 Year Mark

We've been in Italy over 1 year now. Can't say it has been easy but it definitely will give us many interesting stories to tell in the future. The boys are playing baseball which is a new sport to both of them. They are getting the hang of it. Although today, Dante decided it was too hot for him to practice. I agreed. It has been so hot and sticky lately that even I don't want to step outside. Devante is doing well in school. He just got an award for taking 25 Flip for Reading Tests and passing. It is a program where the children read books and take computerized test on comprehension. They earn free books throughout the year for reading. He is looking forward to finishing the school year and having his summer break. It has been great watching them play baseball. They have games every Saturday and practice twice a week so it keeps them active. It very amusing watching the little ones because once someone gets the ball you just see them running around the field tr...

Church Anniversary

Ok, so I'm a little late in posting on the blog again. Sorry..... The video "Children's Praise Team" is from the 1st day of our church's anniversary celebration. They had a great time learning all their moves. To this day, Dante will still show me his moves. The video "C is for Courage" was on the last day of the church's anniversary celebration.

Christmas and New Year's

Today the house is back to normal. Devante had two weeks off for Christmas vacation and then Devin took some time off to study for his exam so my schedule has been off. Devin is at work, Devante in school, and Dante is still asleep so the house is nice and quiet maybe I can get an hour of reading done before Dante gets up today. Well, thats unless the dog starts barking or crying and I have to go out in the cold and yell at him. How nice must it be to be in Sunny San Diego. I'm sure all of you in the East Coast would agree. Anyway, it's not as cold here as it is in the east coast but it's cold enough after living in sunshine for 10 years(13 actually if I count Hawaii). We had a nice Christmas. The boys opened one present on the 24th which I guess was enough because they didn't get up until 10:30 on Christmas Day. We opened presents at about 11am. They were happy with all their presents but especially happy to see a Nintendo Wii which they weren't expecting....

Back in Italy

I told Ms. Glenda that I would post on the blog more often and so far I have failed. I would make it a New Year's Resolution but I know if I couldn't do it before what makes the new year different. I have never been good at the New Year's Resolution thing....but who knows...there's always a first time for everything. Anyway, Dante and I are back in Naples. It was a long busy, fun, and exhausting trip but we are happy to be back with Devin and Devante. It was hard being away from them. San Diego was great. It was warm and sunny. I took care of the things I needed with our house. It was nice to see our church family. It felt like I had never left because as always I was greeted with open arms. Thank you all for your prayers and we appreciate all the emails. It was nice being back home and seeing family and friends. For those we didn't see, sorry.....we will see you on the next trip. We definitely wanted to see everyone but it wasn't possible. Hopeful...
