Our New Life

It has been awhile since I've done a post. Things in Italy are getting better. I think we are finally calling it home...OK, not really home...I still say San Diego is home but we are getting used to our new life here. All the things I dislike about Naples are still there but I am thinking about it differently.

The boys have adjusted well. Dante is getting ready for kindergarten next year. He is excited he can take the bus with his big brother. He's getting very tall and talkative. Devante is doing well. He likes his Italian class and has made a lot of friends. This weekend at church they are doing a performance, I will post pictures later.

We have started traveling a little bit since Devin's work schedule has slowed down. We went to Ravello two weeks ago. It's supposed to have the best view of the Mediterranean Sea. It was so good to see that there are places in Italy that look like the pictures I had seen as a child. It seemed like we were in a different country. It was great. I've posted pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. Did you see....No Trash!!!!! That was different.

We finally found a church we feel comfortable in and have been getting pretty active there. I became the church secretary. They haven't had one for six months so there is a lot to keep me busy...actually, very busy. In November, we begin our women's, men's, and marriage ministries. The ladies will be reading "The Spirit Controlled Woman" by Beverly LaHaye. It discusses our temperaments. The guys will be reading "SoulTalk" by Larry Crabb which talks about the language God wants us to speak. In the marriage ministry we are reading "Boundaries in Marriage" by Henry Cloud. As part of the marriage ministry, the church had their 1st Marriage Conference. We all got dressed up and went to a nice restaurant. We played couples' games, ate, slowed dance (haven't done that in awhile), and had a really nice time. Devin and I got randomly picked to play The Newlywed Game. We were both pretty shocked we did as well as we did. We only got two questions wrong out of eight. One of the questions being Devin's favorite football team which I couldn't answer. We just recently got our 8 cable channels so football hasn't been something we've been watching and plus, Devin doesn't watch football. I was expecting questions like what is your wedding anniversary or favorite color but they asked questions like " what do you and your husband do to praise God together?" or "what characteristic from a man in the bible does your husband most exemplifies(this one was multiple choice)?"

Last weekend, we went to the Navy Ball. Our 1st Ball. In true Italian style, everything started two hours late so by the time we ate it was time to pick up the boys. Not much to tell on this night. We just ate and talked and went home. It was nice to get dressed up although Devin had to wear his uniform and wasn't happy about it. I forgot my camera so no picks of the Ball. We did have one taken by the photographer there so we should get it in a few weeks. I'll post it then.

We've been able to taste more of the food here. I must say that is my favorite thing in Italy. I knew the food would be good but I didn't know it would be this good. We still haven't tried everything. We are just starting to find places to eat that don't overprice the Americans.

In the last couple of months, there has been three additions to the family. Devin's sister had twin girls and my sister had a little girl. The family was male dominated but now the girls are trying to catch up.

We miss you guys a lot. Oh, I forgot the news....Dante and I will be traveling to San Diego in November. Well, we hope to be....we are taking a military flight to Norfolk, Virginia and it is only if space is available. So we hope to see some of you when we get to San Diego.......:)
