What have we done......
I'm learning Italian. I figured at least one of us should know at least enough to get us around. I've learned quite a bit with my class and speaking with my landlord who doesn't know English except for a few words. Now that my class is done for the semester, I am studying at home with CD's.
We go to the market and buy fresh fruit and veggies. Well, I don't know how fresh they actually are with all the pollution problem they have here but it can't be any worst than all the pollution and chemicals we have in the states. It is definitely cheaper to buy at the market than at the Commissary even with the outrageous exchange rate (.60cent euro to one american dollar). We have also gone to the fish market where you can get fresh fish everyday.
We have also started shopping at the Italian stores. Going to the base every time we needed something or just to get out was driving me crazy plus you can sometimes get better deals on things and there is a larger selection out in town.
Some of the differences when you shop at the supermarket/Walmart/Target kind of store you buy your own bags .05 euro. We have finally learned that you can buy a big store shopping bag for 1 euro and bring it everytime you shop.
Two weeks ago we went to the Admiral's house for a get together. That was nice. The house overlooks the water and the view was amazing and the house wasn't too shabby either.
The pictures on the blog are from areas we saw doing a Naples tour we took. There is lots of history in Naples that we have yet to see but we have 3 years.
Right now I'm doing my research on a city that was mentioned to me by a nurse at the hospital. She said you can stay in cone-shaped houses and go to a safari. Just what Devin and the boys love....animals. A trip for the future...I'll keep you posted.
